Predictors of the Success of Natural Regeneration in a Himalayan Treeline Ecotone

The sensitivity and response of climatic treelines in the Himalayas to climate change is still being debated. Regeneration tree species treeline ecotone considered a indicator thus great scientific interest. aim this study detect predictor variables for regeneration densities major central Himalayan ecotones (Abies spectabilis, Betula utilis, Rhododendron campanulatum), analysing five development stages from seedling mature tree. We applied negative binomial generalized linear models with predictors selected wide range soil, topography, stand characteristic variables. found considerably varying across their development. Soil conditions, topography climate, as well competing facilitating species, had high predictive power population densities. These were clearly species- stage-specific. Predictors’ spatial- development-specific heterogeneity induce degree complexity diversify any potentially position changing conditions.
